Family Medicine Residency

A Duke University Medical Center Affiliate

Welcome to the Duke/Southern Regional AHEC Family Medicine Residency, an unopposed community-based program affiliated with Duke University Medical Center. The family medicine residency is based at Southern Regional AHEC Family Medicine Center, a model family practice located conveniently across the street from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The family medicine residency is associated with Cape Fear Valley, a 776-bed hospital that hosts most inpatient care and specialty rotations. Teaching faculty in our program have appointments at Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill and Campbell University.

Rural rotations are offered throughout Southern Regional AHEC's nine county region, including: Bladen, Cumberland,Harnett, Hoke, Moore, Richmond, Robeson, Sampson and Scotland counties. Dually accredited by the ACGME and the AOA, the diverse resident, faculty and patient populations provide a full range of learning opportunities.
