The new Acute Care Clinic is now open!

The Family Medicine Center invites your entire family into our care. More than twenty-four clinicians in our practice work as a team to provide clinic and hospital care. The team is comprised of faculty physicians, resident physicians, physician assistants (PAs), pharmacists, and a psychologist.

In association with Duke University, the Family Medicine Center is a site for training licensed resident physicians in the specialty of family medicine. New residents enter our three-year specialty program each year, bringing with them the most current medical knowledge. As licensed physicians, they practice with us for three years in order to qualify for board certification in family medicine. During that time, the residents’ practice is supervised by faculty, who are family medicine specialists. Medical faculty members hold dual appointments at SR-AHEC and Duke University.

The Family Medicine Center welcomes new patients. One of our clinicians will be assigned to be your primary care provider, who will manage your health care needs and maintain a special focus on preventive care and health maintenance. If your primary care provider is a resident, another provider will be assigned to you when the resident completes his/her training here.
