STOMP OUT OBESITY 5K WALK/RUN
We are turning 45 this year! To celebrate, we are hosting Southern Regional AHEC’s STOMP OUT OBESITY 5K WALK/RUN on Saturday, September 28th, 2019 at our location – 1601 Owen Drive, Fayetteville. We’ve mapped out a course throughout the Glendale Acres neighborhood. Runners/walkers will return back to the Southern Regional AHEC building to celebrate.
Join us as we lace up in stride for a healthier lifestyle. Whether you're walking or running for yourself or someone else, your participation will help us educate members of the community about the importance of maintaining a healthy weight. All proceeds will raise funds to maintain our Weight Loss Clinic, providing tools for local patients to become and stay healthy.

The race will begin promptly at 8 AM.
Check In: 7 – 7:45 am | Race Begins: 8 am
All Children: $12 plus online processing fee
Adult Walker/Runner: $25 plus online processing fee

Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 7 a.m. - 7:45 a.m.
Will the race be timed and will prizes be awarded?
This Stomp Obesity 5k Walk/Run is a non-competitive event. The focus of the race is to increase awareness of the obesity epidemic and help people get active. You can run, walk, jog or skip to the finish line! All ability levels are welcome! Medals will be provided to all runners but no prizes will be awarded or race results posted.
Will there be a staggered start?
All runners/walkers will participate in the same start. Faster runners should position themselves close to the start line, but be cognizant that the race includes many inexperienced young runners who may not be fully aware of race etiquette. Please remember…this event is not intended to be a competitive road race.
Only runners with race bibs will be allowed to run on our 5k course.
Can I register the day of the race?
Yes. The cost is $15 (All kids); $30 (Adults) – cash or check payments only. A t-shirt is not guaranteed for participants who register after August 5, 2019.
What is the event schedule and what other activities will be part of the event?
The 5k Race starts at 8 a.m. All runners should be lined up at the start line by 7:45 a.m. Pre runner activities include:
- Warm-up Station
- Photo Op Area
Will there be water stops on the course?
Yes, there will be two water stops along the course.
Will refreshments be available?
Yes. Appropriate snacks and beverages will be available for breakfast. A celebration, including lunch, will be offered to participants after the event, from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The event will be held as scheduled except in the case of severe weather. In case of severe weather on the scheduled day (September 28th), the event will be rescheduled on October 5th at the same time.
