A Tradition of Quality Content
Clinical Update and Psychopharmacology Review 2018 continues its tradition of providing quality content for practitioners engaged in providing mental health, developmental disability, and substance abuse services in North Carolina and beyond. This is a 2-day conference for psychiatrists, psychologists, pharmacists, nurses, therapists, counselors, case managers, substance abuse professionals, social workers and other professionals interested in learning new clinical approaches.
This year, one of our featured speakers is Fred Osher, M.D., who oversees the health components of the Council of State Governments Justice Center's initiatives. The CSG Justice Center is a national nonprofit organization that serves policymakers at the local, state, and federal levels from all branches of government. Dr. Osher provides technical assistance to state and local governments that are seeking to improve their response to people with mental health and/or substance use disorders who are involved in the criminal justice system. Before joining the CSG Justice Center, Dr. Osher served as the director of the Center for Behavioral Health, Justice, and Public Policy and as an associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He has published extensively in the areas of homelessness, community psychiatry, co-occurring mental health and addictive disorders, and effective approaches to people with behavioral health disorders within criminal justice settings. He received his BA from Harvard University and his MD from Wayne State University.
