Southern Regional Area Health Education Center (SR-AHEC), a community-based ACGME accredited Family Medicine Residency Program with Osteopathic recognition, affiliated with Duke University, located in Fayetteville, NC is recruiting a Core Faculty Position, Director of Community Sports Medicine, to join our faculty.
This core faculty position will be based at our residency practice. Faculty member will create innovative opportunities for incorporation of a strong evidence-based musculoskeletal sports medicine resident educational experience including ultrasound point-of-care. Faculty will demonstrate procedural competency and the ability to teach residents musculoskeletal procedures.
The residency practice has x-ray and point-of-care ultrasound capability on-site and two state-of-the-art procedure rooms with numerous and diverse procedures currently performed. The faculty will engage, develop and maintain collaboration with local orthopedic and physical therapy clinics and work with our school-based health centers to engage communities in wellness and health promotion.
Our practice serves an ethnically and socio-economically diverse patient population including many military reservists, active duty members’ families and retirees. Our clinic offers chronic disease management programs and strong clinical practice operations, including on-site Clinical Pharmacy Department, extensive Behavior Health specialist support, an engaged Quality Improvement Department and Electronic Medical Record Support Specialist.
Medical student teaching opportunities exist through our affiliations with both Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and Campbell University College of Osteopathic Medicine. SR-AHEC core faculty have excellent call and inpatient attending schedules. An ideal candidate will be full-time, board certified, fellowship trained in sports medicine and possess a strong commitment to resident education and public and community health with interest in research and scholarly activities.
