Target Audience
This educational activity is designed for behavioral health professionals, school behavioral health teams, Military and Family Life Counselors (MFLCs), military healthcare providers, pediatric and primary care providers, counselors, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, substance use professionals, graduate students, direct support professionals, community health workers, and other professionals who provide services and support to adolescents and their families.
Program Description
In this seminar, we will discuss the interrelationship between cannabis use and mental health, as well as the implications of this interrelationship for integrated approaches for prevention and treatment.

Speaker
David Goldston, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, Duke University. Over the last 30 years, Dr. Goldston has had clinical research funding for longitudinal, treatment development, implementation, and evaluation research, primarily in the areas of alcohol and substance use and/or suicidal behaviors. He also has been involved in several intervention development and adaptation projects, including projects focused on development of interventions for individuals with co-occurring alcohol/substance use and suicide risk and/or depression. Dr. Goldston is the Duke PI of the NCANDA (National Consortium on Alcohol and Neurodevelopment: Adolescence – Adulthood) multi-site longitudinal project, intended to help identify neurobehavioral consequences of alcohol use in adolescence and young adulthood, and he is the Director of the Duke Center for Adolescent and Young Adult Substance Use Treatment.
Objectives
- The participant will learn about the interrelationship between cannabis use and mental health.
- The participant will learn about the implications of this interrelationship for integrated approaches to prevention and treatment.

NCASPPB: Approved by the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board for 1.5 hours of credit. Pending Approval.
NC Psychologists Category A: The program will provide 1.5 contact hours (category A) continuing education credit to NC Psychologists.
Substitutes/Refunds/Transfers
• Cancellations must be in writing (email or mail).
• Registrants cancelling between two weeks and five full business days prior to the first day of the event are refunded at 70% of the registration fee subject to a minimum $25 cancellation fee.
• No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than five full business days prior to the event.
• No refunds or credit will be given for no-shows.
• No vouchers will be issued in lieu of a refund.
• Transfers/substitute(s) welcome (notify in advance of the program).
