The rapidly changing health care industry dictates the need to keep health care professionals updated on training and technology. Southern Regional AHEC continuing professional development programs, along with NC AHEC and the other AHECs across North Carolina, are important resources that provide the training and continuing education needed to meet state licensure and specialty certification in our region and throughout the state. These programs are often taught by health science faculty from the state's five medical academic centers, bringing university expertise into our communities. The statewide course calendar offers programs for providers in allied health, dental health, medicine, nursing, public health, and emerging health professions.

These programs also offer information that helps these professionals stay abreast of new emerging technologies, and the latest innovations and advancements in their field of work.

Our aim is to reach professionals in our nine-county region and beyond through a diverse range of activities that encourage innovation and increased knowledge. This directly influences the level of care provided to patients in rural and urban areas.
