The health and well-being of our continuing professional development customers is our highest priority. Southern Regional AHEC and its Continuing Professional Development Department are actively engaged in monitoring the status and impact of COVID-19. We are monitoring and following all guidance and directives provide by the Centers for Disease Control. Southern Regional AHEC has a COVID-19 taskforce to ensure that we respond to changes quickly and appropriately. In addition, we are participating in the NC AHEC COVID-19 taskforce.

As this public health situation continues to develop, Southern Regional AHEC will strive to keep you informed. Southern Regional AHEC staff will contact customers directly if any continuing professional development events are cancelled, rescheduled or reformatted for web-based learning. If Southern Regional AHEC cancels an event due to this situation, registrants will receive a 100% refund.

We encourage everyone to continue to follow everyday preventive actions to include:

  • Stay at home when you are sick, except to get medical care.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects daily.

The health and well-being of our communities is of the most importance to us. The NC AHEC Program is working with regional AHECs to provide continuing education during this time while understanding the need for social distancing.
