This program is designed for physicians, advanced nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and rural and underserved healthcare teams.
Program Description
The primary care team plays a vital role in serving as the first line of defense against dermatological malignancies, where early detection and intervention are crucial. This 1-hour virtual clinical update bridges the gap between clinical dermatology and primary care performance. Examine the critical nuances of dermatological presentations across diverse skin phototypes and evaluate the latest evidence-based guidelines for photoprotection and UV safety in high-risk occupational cohorts.

Objectives
- Identify suspicious skin lesions using morphology, location, evolution, and patient risk factors.
- Select an appropriate biopsy technique or subspecialty referral for suspicious skin lesions based on morphology, size, location, and suspected diagnosis.
- Recommend evidence-based UV safety and photoprotection strategies for patients at increased risk of skin cancer.

Speaker
Brian Rayala, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. With over two decades of experience in comprehensive medical and surgical patient care, he leads the clinical surgical services and residency procedural curriculum at UNC Family Medicine. He specializes in primary care surgical procedures, wound care, and dermatology. A dedicated educator, Dr. Rayala has authored over 70 scientific papers and serves on multiple national editorial board.

• Registrants cancelling between two weeks and five full business days prior to the first day of the event are refunded at 70% of the registration fee subject to a minimum $25 cancellation fee.
• No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than five full business days prior to the event.
• No refunds or credit will be given for no-shows.
• No vouchers will be issued in lieu of a refund.
• Transfers/substitute(s) welcome (notify in advance of the program).
