This program is designed for behavioral health professionals and healthcare providers who work with individuals experiencing trauma exposure and severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), including psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed clinical mental health counselors, licensed clinical addiction specialists, nurses, marriage and family therapists, and other professionals who support individuals with complex behavioral health needs.
This three hour, in-person session will explore the complex relationship between trauma exposure and severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). It will assume a general understanding of the potential impact of trauma exposures on human functioning and review standard elements of a trauma-informed approach to care. With case examples and group discussion, this session will offer applications to real-world examples and introduce best practices for approaching and treating these co-occurring issues.
